Most people visiting this site are aware of the monumental challenge that the Resue family has ahead of them.  For those who don't know Debbie, Gary, Monica and Dana and have been referred by someone you know to this site to help, here is their recent story in a nutshell:

The Resues are a hard-working, loving family of four.  Debbie (mom), Gary (dad) Monica (17) and Dana (3). Just before Thanksgiving, Debbie (most of us know her as "Debbie Bell") was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma cancer.  After an unsuccessful attempt to remove her tumor locally, she was scheduled for surgery at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Debbie and Gary traveled to Boston a week before her scheduled surgery for pre-op tests.  Debbie had to be admitted to Dana Farber to treat a bad infection from her previous surgery. She needed IV antibiotics in order to get her infection under control enough for her to have the necessary surgery on Wednesday, January 2, 2008.  Gary stayed in Boston for several days but returned to their home in Ballston Lake, NY on Sunday, December 30, 2007, to pick up some necessities and spend a little time with Monica and Dana. He was to return to Boston the next day with Debbie's sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Dave Phillips.

Family, friends, co-workers, church associates, schoolmates ... everyone who knows this family, want to know what to do to help them...and they will need all of our help for a long time.   Every one of us who knows Debbie or Gary, have been helped by one or both of them for something (probably many things) in the past.  It is time for all of the good they have done us in the past, to come back to them now!  Fortunately, there are a lot of people who want to help Deb and Gary, but don't know how or what to do.  The intent of this site is to have a place for people to come together to know how to help them where they need it and when.  It will  be a constant work in progress and input from everyone is greatly appreciated.
On Monday, Gary went in to work for half-a-day before driving back to Boston.  Shortly before Gary was to leave for the day, he was helping to unload a lathe (it weighed 4,500 lbs.) and It fell on him
Debbie and Gary are two of the hardest working people there are.  Given their current physical challanges, neither of them are able to work...for an extend period of time.  Their medical and everyday bills, however, need to be paid.
He miraculously survived, but sustained massive injuries, including broken neck and back, a punctured lung, his rib cage has multiple fractures, broken collar bone, pelvis and leg.  Every day there was a new complication resulting from these horrific injuries.  Gary has been in unimaginable agony.  He was in the Intensive Care Unit of Albany Medical Center from December 31, 2007 through January 15, 2008.  On January 15, he was moved to Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady, New York and was released on January 30, 2008.

Debbie had her surgery and was released from Dana Farber while Gary was in still Intensive Care.  She is now home taking care of Gary and her children while continuing to heal herself. Debbie has started treatment for her illness, which she is receiving locally.
